The tarp the covers our trampoline springs wore out this season, so we went the cheap route and covered the springs with pool noodles purchased at the Dollar Tree. (I’m hoping this also keeps Joy from escaping the net and walking around the outside of the trampoline, although that did look like fun!)

I’ve been reading a lot about loose part play, so I decided to use the leftover ends of the noodle instead of throwing them away. I prefer natural materials, but this was free. I cut them to various sizes and cut a few in half lengthwise. Grace loved sorting and stacking them.

And then she made dog soup! She pretended the noodles were peppers and I had taste after taste of her delicious creation.

It’s amazing what the kids come up with on their own when you just leave a few things laying around.
